This is Kaitlin, or as she is more commonly known, KK. Kaitlin was an easy child to raise. At 22 months, she was just adorable, but her mischievious side was just beginning to emerge.
Needless to say, once the mischievious side came out, there was no going back. From one minute to the next, you never knew what she was going to come up with. Not much of a girly-girl, more of a tomboy, this was KK's idea of "doing hair".
While her older sisters enjoyed tap, ballet, and jazz, KK was not interested. She was born to play soccer. This picture was taken the first year she played on an all-boy soccer team. As sweet as she was, most of the boys were afraid of her, including her brothers. That was okay with KK, she liked it that way.
This is was taken three years ago during KK's senior year soccer season. As you can see, the sweetness had turned to sheer competitiveness on the field. However, off the field, KK is easy-going and it's pretty hard to ruffle her feathers. (That said, her brothers know just what buttons to push! When they do, this soccer look resurfaces.)
Our tomboy is so much fun to be around. If you know KK, you know that there will never be a dull moment. But something has happened...she found a man-boy and fell in love!
And almost overnight, our little tomboy has morphed into a young woman ready to wed. Yikes! How did this happen?
Last night, we enjoyed watching her open a bunch of gifts at her bridal shower. Since it was a "kitchen shower", she got a lot of things like measuring cups, muffin tins, and pot holders. Remember, KK is not the most domesticated of my three daughters. Her idea of cooking up 'til now is Ramen noodles or Easy Mac. I was pleased that she actually knew the names of all the items bestowed upon her, although she may not have a clue as to how to use them. She's bright, she'll learn.
KK may be fun loving, but she is also extremely MODEST. Just the mention of underwear will send her into a tizzy. Her biggest fear going to the bridal shower was that someone would give her something that was more bedroom appropriate rather that kitchen appropriate.
And here it is...she can see it in the bag and can hardly bring herself to touch it, let alone pull it out for everyone to oooh and aaaah over.
But, bless her heart, she managed it with a smile, especially since it was her new sister-in-law who gave it to her. Notice the one-finger hold on the lingere...and yes, she is blushing.
So, you may be asking what the point of this blog is? No point really, only just to say that my little tomboy is getting married and I'm just trying to come to grips with it. She's still sweet and fun-loving and we are looking forward to adding another son to our family. If KK picked him out, he's gotta be excellent.
Wedding countdown...26 days.
WOW I think her face was the same color as the nightie! She has grown into a beautiful woman, Congrats again!
ReplyDeleteI just love Kaitlin and I can't wait to be there when she comes out of the temple. These pictures are great and really show her personality. I really wish I could have been at the shower but I hear it went well.
